Casement Window Repair by Heritage Steel Window Repair
Casement windows hinge at the side and swing out, which puts a lot of load on the hinges and the frame. When the hinges wear, the sash sags, rubs the frame and stops sealing. We fix steel and wood casements of every age.
That includes old steel casements in Tudor and Colonial Revival homes, wood casements in cottages and dormers, and modern crank-out casements.
Sagging and Rubbing Sashes
A casement that rubs at the bottom corner is usually sagging on worn hinges. We replace pins or whole hinges and re-square the sash. On steel casements we straighten frames that have been forced shut over the years.
Wood casements with loose joints are taken to the shop, re-glued and pinned, then refitted to the opening.

Casement Repairs

New Casements to Match
When a casement is missing or beyond repair, we can build or source a new one to match the others, so the elevation stays consistent.
Safety and Egress
Bedroom casements are often the emergency exit. We make sure they open fully and the hardware works from inside without special tools.
We serve Philadelphia, the Main Line, Bucks, Chester and Delaware Counties, South Jersey and Wilmington. Related services: double-hung window repair, steel door repair, window hardware.
Steel Casements in Philadelphia Homes
Steel casements were the standard window in many Philadelphia homes built between the 1920s and 1950s, from Tudor revival twins in Mount Airy to brick colonials on the Main Line. Many are still in place behind layers of paint, painted shut or held closed with a latch that no longer works.
These windows are very repairable. Freeing the hinges, straightening the frames and replacing the operators brings them back into use, and new weatherstripping makes them far tighter than they were. Interior storm panels can be added for winter comfort without changing the outside look.
If your casements were replaced decades ago and you want the look back, we can also supply new steel casements that match the originals on neighboring houses.
