Historic Preservation by Heritage Steel Window Repair
Before a single sash comes out, an old building needs a plan. Our preservation services cover the survey, the treatment plan and the documentation, so you know what to save, what to repair and what it will cost.
We work on colonial stone houses, Victorian twins, Colonial Revival estates and mid-century modern homes. Each era has different window and door construction, and the right treatment depends on it.
Condition Surveys
A survey gives each window and door a number, photos and a condition rating for the frame, sash, glass, hardware and finish. It turns a vague worry about the windows into a list you can price and schedule.
Surveys are useful when you buy an older house, plan a renovation, apply for grants or tax credits, or need to prioritize work over several years.

Preservation Services

Using Archival Photos
Old photographs often show windows, shutters and porch details that were removed decades ago. We use them to rebuild lost elements accurately instead of guessing.
Maintenance Plans
Restored windows last for generations if they are maintained. We provide a simple schedule: what to check each year, when to repaint and when to call us.
We serve Philadelphia, the Main Line, Bucks, Chester and Delaware Counties, South Jersey and Wilmington. Related services: steel windows, bronze window restoration, metal window repair.
When to Call for a Preservation Survey
Order a window and door survey before you buy an older property, before you hire an architect for a renovation, and before you apply to a historical commission or for preservation funding. The survey gives you facts instead of guesses: which windows are original, which were replaced, what condition each one is in and what it will cost to bring them back.
Owners of historic homes in Philadelphia, Haddonfield, Doylestown and West Chester often use our surveys to plan work over several years. The most exposed windows are restored first, and the rest are scheduled as the budget allows, with simple maintenance in the meantime.
We also document what we find with numbered photos, so the record stays with the house for future owners.
