Metal Window Repair by Heritage Steel Window Repair
Aluminum and metal-clad windows have their own failure points: broken balance shoes, worn sliders, fogged glass and corroded sills. We repair them and keep them working, which is often far cheaper than a new set.
We also form custom metal panning and capping for window trim. It protects exposed wood from rot and gives the outside of the house a clean, low-maintenance finish.
Custom Panning and Capping
Metal panning covers old wood trim or a removed window frame with formed aluminum or steel. We bend it on site to fit each window, so the corners are tight and the water sheds away from the opening.
Colors can match your windows, siding or trim. Where the old trim is rotten, we replace the wood before we cap it.

Metal Window Services

Skylights and Roof Windows
Leaks around skylights are usually in the flashing, not the glass. We re-flash skylights with formed metal, including on standing seam and shingle roofs.
When to Replace
If an aluminum window frame is cracked or the house is getting new windows anyway, replacement makes sense. We install replacement windows and finish them with matching metal capping.
We serve Philadelphia, the Main Line, Bucks, Chester and Delaware Counties, South Jersey and Wilmington. Related services: casement window repair, double-hung window repair, steel door repair.
Common Metal Window Problems We See
Aluminum windows from the 1960s through the 1990s are everywhere in Philadelphia suburbs. Their typical failures are fogged glass, broken balance shoes, worn sliding tracks, corroded sills and missing screens. Each of these is a parts repair rather than a reason to replace the whole window.
Exterior wood trim around windows is the other common issue. Once paint fails, the wood rots and water gets behind the siding. Custom metal capping stops that cycle and removes the need to repaint the trim.
We carry common balances, rollers and locks on the truck, and we can order matched insulated glass units for most frames within a week or two.
